This first Catenary chamber is used
primarily for Shino glazes, the last chamber for salt glazing. This photo courtesy

Castable was used around arched flues for easy of
construction (less cutting of bricks). Main Arch over firebox chamber
is also castable, this made possible a side entrance door (similar to an igloo) that would have been impractical if constructed
with bricks. |

The plastic cups will leave voids when
castable is applied to the form, for blow holes or stoke ports.
Note plastic sheeting over form to prevent castable refractory
material from sticking to
