Chenille
is an unusual thread as it has been woven twice. The gentle loft and
texture of chenille results from the soft pile attached to each strand.
Rayon
was developed as a replacement for silk. This man made fiber is
processed in a manner similar to how silk worms digest mulberry
leaves, using cellulose fibers (from trees) and cotton linters.
Rayon fibers have a sheen that catches the light and radiates color,
like silk fibers.
Rayon Chenille
fabric has a soft pliability and drape. Color combinations used in
the warp and weft interact to produce elegant, yet subtle, patterns and
montages.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for hand woven
material made of rayon.
Do not hand wash, as water weakens the fiber and the yarn can be
damaged. |
